
Our summer offer explained
Yesterday, we launched a summer offer where we will support our current and future clients and applicants by offering:
- Reduced fee of 10% for candidates we search for
- 5% fee if you appoint someone already on our books today
We wanted to take a moment to reflect upon this offer and why we are doing it. It’s not something we’ve seen before in this sector. It can be a confusing message to promise a top-quality service run by people who’ve been there, but at a lower rate. How can both of these positions be true? We explore this below.
Our mission
We’re a small company comprising people who want to make a difference to the sector. We are not in this for money, which is why we don’t do bulk recruitment. We invest our time and energy into matchmaking the right clients and candidates, through giving constructive feedback, mock interviews, candidate preparation plus advice and guidance. This works so everyone has the opportunity to shine at an interview, leading to the right recruitment decisions for all.
Our approach
The often-used metaphor is of a maritime vehicle turning around. A large tanker takes ages; a zippy little speedboat is nimbler. We are the speedboat in this instance. The outcome is the same, and this lowers the cost. We always maintain professional and sector standards and our processes are robust.
We speak to each individual applicant when they register, to understand who we are working with. A CV is useful but a one-to-one discussion is proving to be vital to really understanding the person, who they are and what they want to do. The feedback from applicants has supported this – many of them have expressed how useful the initial short call is. Through these conversations, we have seen the number of people who have been impacted by institutional restructuring, or funding changes, and we want to help.
We decided to offer a lower charge this summer if we put forward someone who we have already got on our books. We want our candidates to succeed, we believe in them and our mission is to place the right people into the right roles. So we feel we can offer a 5% fee if we’ve already done the work before we introduce them to their next employer and no search is needed. As it is costing us less to find great candidates for clients, we want to pass these savings onto the sector.
If we’ve not signed up the right applicant for your role yet, and we need to engage in search, we do need to cover our costs. 10% is still very competitive.😃
We are not only recruiters
Higher-ED is one aspect of a wider service that we provide to the sector. The other is Transform-ED. This is a consultancy offer. We have found that some institutions need work packages done without the cost and effort of maintaining a full cadre of people to do them. We can deliver your objectives, help you embed the results and then we move onto the next client. Our network as a team is therefore extensive, and this income stream enables us to deliver a value for money recruitment service, answering some of the questions above.
